Welcome to Toads & Roads .

This is my blog. Here I will try to maintain a sense of humor and fairness. It might not always be possible but I will try, I really will.
Sometimes I may be sarcastic. That is what it is. Not asking you to like it or appreciate it but know that I will sometimes say exactly what I think.
Your choice to read, agree or disagree.

When I keep quiet and walk away, don't think you've won. I walked away because you weren't worth my time.

Please feel free to comment... I don't bite and welcome the interaction

Caribbean Bound - Seattle/Dallas-01

Sometime last summer we had the opportunity to join a group that Landsharkz organized for a Caribbean geo-cruise...Yes we were definitely interested...
A page was created and cachers joined.  By the time the deadline for deposits was reached in December there were approx 47 of us from Canada and the US.
We changed up our itinerary a little to maximize the trip.  We opted to leave a week earlier and layover in Dallas for 3 nights and then 3 nights in San Juan Puerto Rico.

We left home early Sunday February 16th and caught the ferry out of Duke Point and then headed south to Seattle.  We managed to restrain ourselves fr caching on the way down as we wanted to get into our hotel before doing some puzzle caches we had on our list in the Seattle area.
Once we arrived we headed out to explore the area and pick up a few caches.  The next morning we did not have to fly out til the afternoon so we managed a couple more.  No hustle here as we are taking this trip for relaxation.
So Monday Feb 17th we dropped the truck off at the Park & Fly.  First time I have done this but it was relatively easy and they dropped us off at our terminal.  Once at the airport we checked in.  It was nice we only had to go through security as we were already in the country...Since we flew into Dallas in the dark there really are no pictures.  The adventure truly starts the next day.  We went out to eat after we checked in at our hotel and was told by a waiter how to get around.  Up until then we had no idea that Dallas had a train...yeah>>>
So Tuesday I head out early and catch the shuttle back to Dallas-Fort Worth International where I promptly paid $5 for an all day transfer pass.  I boarded the train and proceeded to enjoy the scenery while traveling to Love Field where I would pick up my rental car.  (It was cheaper to rent at Love Field than DFW).  When we returned the car on Thursday we both boarded the train right to DFW.  Easier and cheaper than a cab.
I set up the GPSr and put it on a route right back to the hotel to pick up Paul who has handled all the checkout and is waiting for me.

At approx 11 am we are heading north on Hwy I- 77 towards Denton Texas.  The countryside here reminds me of our prairies.  Very similar and all part of the interior plains.  Along the way we set out to discover oddities.  We love the virtuals.  this one was interesting as we had never come across this before.  N33W97 Confluence
Okay so the pic isn't all zeros....but if you try really hard it can be....
Another one we weren't expecting was a little off the highway ...4-27-15
If you have a few spare million? Never been  used....

We drove into Oklahoma as far as Ardmore before tuning east.  The nice thing about a road trip is you can pick and choose your caches.. We tried to stick with Virtuals, Earthcaches, and larger caches as well as some interesting ones no matter what the size...

We ended up in Idabel, Ok for the night and settled into a Comfort Inn for some well deserved R&R.
